A family sells cinnamon rolls to raise money to buy a new home after a house fire. “E. Texas family cinnamon roll fundraiser helps buy new home” is the title of my article. My article is from KLTV or here. A family in Hopkins county, Texas lost their home due to a house fire back in September. To raise money for a new house the family sold cinnamon rolls. After weeks of fundraising they came out with a total of $20,000. Many people who helped raise the money were able to tour the house once it arrived. This month the home arrived and will be ready to be moved into on March 1st. Although It’s upsetting they family lost their house, I’m happy it brought them closer together. The family says they now understand what’s it like to go through something so tragic, and want to help others and continue fundraising in different ways. This affects me because I know someone who recently lost their house in a fire. This way of saving up for their new house was a great idea. To continue finding ways raising money for others is a very generous thing to do. It’s awesome to see someone keep helping others after they have gone through something like this. I find this truly inspiring. This affects the world because there are several people who lose their homes everyday. This family took action to get back what they had lost. With the help and donations of others it’s amazing to see how far a family can come and grow by working together. I hope people can learn from this story by realizing what hard work can do. Even though the road can have a few bumps in it, you still end up where you plan on going.

The topic of my article is about how the Kilgore emergency center had to be shut down due to a bat infestation.“Bats in Kilgore emergency center could pose serious health risks” is the title of my article. My article is from KLTV or here. Good Shepherd’s Kilgore emergency room was shut down Wednesday due to bats that got in building. Everyone in the ER had to evacuate and is now it is going to be shut down for two weeks. The problem occurred so fast that there wasn’t a place to locate. A wildlife specialist is going to come in and get rid of the bats. They are now ready to handle any more issues that occur. The bats do carry diseases and should be handled properly. I feel upset for the people who had to leave the ER due to the bats, because I understand if they were weak it couldn’t have been easy to get up a move around. This affects me because this is near me. I hope the wildlife expert gets the job done as soon as possible. The patients should not be exposed to such animals who can carry diseases. It’s good that they are out of there, but now we know to be more aware that problems like this can occur. I hope that they can find a way to cover the holes that bats were able to fit through to get in. This affects the world because there are bats most everywhere. Most everyone understands that are able to squeeze themselves into these small holes. But to be prepared for anything- especially hospitals need to be sure that every small opening needs to be covered. I understand that it isn’t easy but now we know how bad it can affect the patients in the hospital. I still hope all the bats will be gone before the set date, because the sooner the bats are out the sooner the patients can get in.

The topic of my article is about how The House of Hope was opened up to help women in need. “House of Hope’s success helps define our city” is the title of my article. My article is from Longview News Journal or here. Helen Johnson wanted to minister to women. She did so by opening a place for homeless women called The House of Hope. 55 women today have a place to stay. It’s the House of Hope’s 10th anniversary this year. By providing love and much more to homeless women, Helen deserves all the congratulations. More people should be like Helen and reach out to women. I feel good to know that there are still people who would like to help others. This affects me because it affects a town near me. There are people near me who need help all the time. Now that Longview has the House of Hope and other places are helping people who need it makes me glad. Although, some women put themselves in that position it’s good to know they are hopefully trying to get their life back together. As for others, that may have disabilities and are not able to work are also hopefully trying to find something they can do makes me feel glad as well. This affects the world the same way it affects the community. The House of Hope has come so far, and helps define the city of Longview. To know that 55 women have a place to stay is great. Fewer and fewer places around the world have these type of places. But to hear about the House of Hope can inspire so many others to reach out as well or even remind some to stay on the right path.

The topic of my article is about the increase of homeless veterans. “Homeless survey’s attention to veterans an appropriate response” is the title of my article. My article is from Longview News Journal or here. The amount of homeless veterans has lately increased. Due to disorders or physical problems veterans have not been able to work. This causes them to be out on the streets, homeless. They have recently found that veterans are usually the last people to ask for help because they want to take care of themselves. Although they want to, some cannot do so which leads them in this situation. Not only veteran but other homeless people should should seek the help they need and try their very best to get back on there feet. I feel that it’s good many people are working so hard to end homeless for everyone. This affects me because it affects people and towns everywhere. Some of the veterans do have disabilities from being in the military or just growing older. This is making them unable to work. Being unable to work means no income and puts them in the position they are in today. With this affecting towns and cities this affects the world. It’s difficult for the homeless to get back on their feet, but with this out stretched arm it must be easier. It’s up to them if they are willing to take they help that is offered. Veterans has served our country and now it’s our turn to give back. Although I feel the help is useful, they also need to work with the service that is helping them. The homeless shouldn’t push away, but willingly take the help they need.
